Welcome to the Up in the Air Life blog. My name is Claire Soares and I am the Founder. The purpose of the blog is to further our mission to Inspire, Connect, and Grow. Over the next few months we will be playing “catch up.” We will provide you a full recap of our past Trips, Lifestyle Experiences, and Lifestyle Events. When I was younger, I wanted to travel the world and study abroad but did not know anyone who was doing it. As the high school class president, I planned a trip for 100 of my classmates to visit Six Flags, located in New Jersey. Since we were in Virginia, I knew I needed to be organized, detailed, and methodical when planning the trip. The positive feedback I received from my classmates sparked something within me. With that trip, little did I know that the “Trip Planner” seed was planted.
With the explosive growth of social media, it has heightened the awareness of the average person of their ability to travel. When people see others who look like them doing the things they dream about, it gives them the confidence that they can do it too and, at the same time, remove barriers, allowing people to leverage social media connections to plan trips, find affordable rates for flights, and locating upscale lodging around the world.
While traveling the world as an adult, I noticed there was a segment of the travel population who, like me, appreciated the finer things in life. We were ready to take things to the next level with more luxurious experiences. I realized this segment was not being served. There was also this undertone in the travel community that if you are not “backpacking” or “roughing it,” you are not a “real” traveler. I disagree with that notion; all types of travel should be celebrated. Whether you decide to stay in a hut on the beach or an elaborate resort – as long as you are doing what you love it is all good!
It was this awareness of the gaps in the marketplace that birthed Up in the Air Life.
Launched in November 2013, Up in the Air Life is an upscale tour company focused on creating social adventures for working professionals who crave epic experiences.
