Up In The Air Life proudly presents a journey to one of the most dynamic and naturally beautiful countries in Latin America. Known for its magnificent, vast landscape, Chile is the place to be! For the first half of your journey, you will visit the cosmopolitan capital of Santiago.  Explore the many wonderful food markets, various neighborhoods, and immerse yourself in Chilean culture, before heading to the second half of this experience and the piece de resistance will be a trip for the history books! We’re taking you on a journey to the southernmost region of Patagonia, where eternal ice stretches as far as the eye can see.

OCTOBER 23 - 31, 2020

DAY 1

Bienvenido a Chile! Upon arrival at Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL) you will transfer to your boutique hotel. Once you have checked in, the day is yours to explore this beautifully vibrant city at your leisure. Get lost in the streets of Santiago.  Enjoy art galleries, innovative design shops and craft fairs, as well as restaurants, bars and cafes. As the sun begins to set, we’ll gather for a meet and greet, then enjoy a true Chilean gastronomic experience.

DAY 2

You can’t come to the lively city of Santiago without seeing the colorful settings of Valparaíso and Viña del Mar. With many viewpoints of lush greenery that blends perfectly with the blue of the sea, this is truly a picturesque destination. After breakfast, we’ll meet our expert local guide and be whisked away to the northwest side of the country. Adorned with beautiful beaches and coves, museums, national monuments, and some of the most vibrant street art in Chile. The incredible urban infrastructure makes Valparaíso and Viña del Mar two of Chile’s unmissable destinations. After an afternoon in the colorful, bohemian town of Valparaiso, we will head to the beautiful beaches of Viña del Mar where you’ll have free time to have lunch at your leisure. With recharged batteries, we will take a pleasant walk along the beach.

DAY 3

Enjoy the breakfast buffet at the hotel and explore Santiago on your own today with free time. Maybe take advantage of learning more about the local history and culture of Chile by going on one of the many free walking tours. If you are a lover of art & culture the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes is the place to go. With a collection of over 3,000 Chilean sculptures, paintings, and artifacts, this museum has something for everyone. Oh, and it’s FREE! If museums aren’t your thing, how about taking a leisurely stroll through the historic Plaza de Armas. This is a great spot to see some of Santiago’s neoclassical architecture, palm trees, historical monuments and stately fountains.

DAY 4

After breakfast, we’ll hop on our shuttle and head to the airport, to catch our flight to the city of Punta Arenas in Chilean Patagonia. Puerto Natales is a picturesque small village and the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park. Upon arrival in Punta Arenas, we’ll take a short detour to the home of Chile’s largest penguin colony at Pingüinera Seno Otway. You’ll hop a bus for the last leg of our trip north to Puerto Natales. When you arrive, you’ll transfer to your hotel and have the rest of the evening to relax and explore the town. This small port city is the main base for excursions into Torres del Paine National Park. Puerto Natales offers simple pleasures like strolling its waterfront promenade, where the view at sunset is phenomenal.

DAY 5

Each day we’ll enjoy a guided excursion to view some of the park’s iconic sights. Patagonia is a mix of Andes mountain landscapes, desert, grasslands and oceans which lie across the southern regions of Argentina and Chile. After an enticing Patagonian breakfast, we’ll explore Gray Lake and admire the huge floating icebergs, rocky massifs, lush vegetation and majestic mountains. You’ll witness up close and personal all the wonder, beauty and magnitude of the ice walls. A true spectacle of nature.

DAY 6

Today is all about you! Enjoy the spa facilities, or grab a drink at the bar, while taking in the breathtaking sights of the snow capped mountains in the backdrop. The cinematic landscapes will leave you breathless.

DAY 7

Rise & Shine! The early bird catches the worm is what they say. So, today let’s get up before the sun rises and head to the Argentinean side of Patagonia to Los Glaciares National Park. As you enter the park you’ll catch your first glimpse of the massively majestic Perito Moreno Glacier. This expansive ice mass flows down from the Andes out over the turquoise waters of Lago Argentino. If we’re lucky, we’ll witness “calving,” the awe-inspiring sight of ice breaking off the facade and crashing into the tranquil waters below. Every time ice hits the water a thundering crash reverberates in the ears.

DAY 8

On today’s adventurous journey, we’ll go on a photographic safari hike through Torres del Paine. The trail begins with a climb up grassy slopes, with views of the Paine Massif as we enter Ascencio Valley, then we’ll head to Salto Grande viewpoint, a prime waterfall attraction with its powder blue, glacier-fed waters add to its scenic allure.

DAY 9

Torres del Paine to the Punta Arenas airport. Hop on a domestic flight from Punta Arenas to Santiago. Upon arrival in Santiago, transfer to the international terminal for your flight back home. ¡Buen viaje!
